Paris, the first world tourist destination


Paris and its region remained the world's top tourist destination in 2013 with 32.3 million tourist arrivals in hotels in the Ile de France region, said Monday the Tourist Board. Despite the difficult economic environment, "in 2013 and is one of the reference years in terms of tourist arrivals," said the committee Paris Ile-de-France in a statement. 


Nearly 15.5 million visitors came from abroad, an increase of 8.2% compared to 2012, "an outstanding figure as the highest for 10 years," the statement said. In detail, it was the British who were the most numerous, with over 2.1 million arrivals hotel in the capital last year. 

Chinese, Asian customers the most present 

Chinese customers has become first Asian customers the most present, with 881,000 hotel arrivals (52.6%), followed by the Japanese. By nationality, the top 5 visitors from Paris / Ile-de-France in 2013 are in order: the British, Americans, Germans, Italians and Chinese. The Committee also noted a sharp increase in hotel arrivals of tourists from the Near and Middle East (20.7%). 

However, the decline in arrivals from French customers, started in 2012, has been "very much alive" (-7.5%). 
Interviewed on 3 and 4 March, the Paris tourism professionals are providing a 69% improvement in their activity in the medium term in 2014, also states the Regional Tourism Committee.
